The Calverton Swim Club announces with deepest sadness the passing of Richard Findley. Richard grew up in Calverton, was a member of the Calverton Swim Club for many years, and played volleyball. He continued to play winter volleyball at High Point High School for years after he left Calverton with current members of the pool. Rich is a member of the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department and a Prince George's County Police Officer. Rich was assigned to a special task force dealing with the most violent criminals in the county, but for those of us who knew him, Rich was a kind and funny guy, a family man and a good citizen. Corporal Richard Findley was killed while performing his duties as a Police Officer on the afternoon of June 27, 2008. Rich leaves behind a wife, Kelli, and two small children, Nicole and Lauren. His parents, Delores and John Findley, continue to live in Calverton. The pool will hold its annual Labor Day volleyball tournament in honor of Rich, and for the benefit of his family.
