SWIM CLUB WELCOMES OUR NEW MANAGER

The Board of Directors is happy to introduce the newest member of the Club’s Staff.  Rebekah Harrison will join us as Manager for the 2016 season, and we could not be more pleased.

During the off season, we learned that last year’s Manager, John Niedermair IV, completed his nursing education and certification, and would be accepting a position as a nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.  Also, CJ Rager, our Assistant Manager in 2015, has decided to pursue advancing his teaching career, which would not enable him to serve full time at the Swim Club this summer.  While wishing nothing but the best for our two home grown heroes, we needed to find a full time manager for 2016, and we got lucky beyond our expectations.

Rebekah comes to us with an impressive resume of education and experience.  She  grew up in the Stonegate neighborhood and graduated from Springbrook High School, then attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington before transferring to and getting her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.  She worked as a Mental Health and Addictions Counselor at Montgomery General Hospital while pursuing her Master’s Degree in Teaching at the University of Maryland University College.  She also found time to compete as a Division I athlete in track and field while an undergraduate.  Oh, and she spent about 8 years while in high school and college working summers as a life guard and manager at several swim clubs in Montgomery County MD.

After all that education, she is now back home, and teaching Biology at her alma mater, Springbrook, where she also serves as the Head Coach of the Varsity Field Hockey Team and the Track and Field Team.  We owe a note of thanks to our former Manager, Dan Feher, who is now the Athletic Director at Springbrook, for responding to our request for help in finding a Manager, and for saying some good things about our community to Rebekah.

When you stop by the Club, please take a moment to say hello and welcome to Rebekah.
